The first time I ever heard about MLM a.k.a. network marketing was through an ACN business opportunity presentation. I was 16 at the time and I couldn’t get a “normal” job. But I had to help my mom so onto Craigslist I went, looking for work. I came across an ad (I totally forget what it said) but I called the number and set up an interview appointment.
I met the rep at a Starbucks and he showed me the presentation. The mlm business model of leverage got me so excited but when I told him I was only 16 two things happened. A) He was definitely thinking (@#$#@%#$^#^!) B) He kept his cool and gave me a few ACN magazines and his business card.
I have not joined ACN but today I will give you all the research that I have done. Hope it helps you understand the ACN business opportunity. Here goes!
First of all though. This business breakdown is for people who already know that network marketing is a legitimate and solid business model. If you’re looking for any dirt or any “ACN scam nonsense” then this isn’t for you. This is for those seriously looking into a network marketing business.

Provide individuals with a home based business that markets services people need and use every day.
The services they focus on are: Phone, Video Phone, Wireless, Computer Support, Satellite TV, High Speed Internet, Energy, Small Business, and Home Security.

ACN Business Opportunity – Start Up And Maintenance Cost
$499 – Startup
Monthly Fees – $6 + $1 admin fee
Yearly – $149
The $499 covers costs of becoming a Team Trainer. The fee and ongoing renewal fees help ACN to cover its costs to provide (Source):
• ACN Field Support Services – Live, Field Support Services in
English, Spanish, Korean and French. They provide accurate information pertaining to
products, processes and policies for ACN’s Independent Representatives personal
distributorships. They also train on how to access resources essential to supporting
distributorships.
• ACN Operations – This team of dedicated individuals performs all order provisioning and
customer account activation processes from the time a signed LOA is received until the
customer’s service is active.
• ACN Credit and Collections – This team is committed to ensuring that customers you signup are credit worthy. They also help collect payments from customers who do not or cannot
pay their ACN invoice.
• ACN Customer Service – Specially trained agents make up this team and together they
provide 24-hour complete customer support in English, Spanish, Korean and French.
• ACN Product Development – This team is devoted to the research, development and
implementation of new products and services, new or revised pricing and ongoing product
features and enhancements.
• ACN Commissioning System – Unique system used to track and give detailed reports about downlines,
customer and convention acquisition, service, usage and commissioning performance and
activity.
• ACN Public and Private Websites – Customized website, tracking, improvements, support.
• ACN Marketing – Professional sales and recruiting tools, marketing materials, etc.
• Weekly and Monthly Conference Calls
ACN Business Opportunity - Compensation Plan
I don’t want to go into detail analyzing the ACN compensation plan because it’ll definitely confuse you. Unless you have been in mlm aka network marketing for some time you probably are not familiar with network marketing compensation plans. For those unfamiliar I am going to just put it in simple terms for you. The ACN compensation plan is more of a direct sales plan. This means you make most of your money from the initial sale of products. The actual residual (recurring payments that you receive long after the initial sale is made, usually in specific amounts and at regular intervals) is not that much.
This does not mean you can’t build a HUGE residual. It just means that within this compensation plan you are going to have it a little harder than others.
ACN Business Opportunity – Conclusion
ACN is a long standing and credible company. If you work their system you will make money, no doubt about it. The only drawback is that it’s harder to build up a residual than other compensation plans.
But this does not mean you cannot. Personally I would go with a compensation plan that makes residual easier to build but this does not mean ACN is not a great company. I have a great impression of them and I know they offer some great, unique products.
Bottom line though: If you want to make money in ACN you need a constant flow of leads aka people to refer the products to. Every direct sales/network marketing company suggests you show the product to a list of your friends and family first. But the truth is, we blow through this list extremely fast…and then what?
That’s why having a constant flow of leads is so important. Imagine if you had 20-40 targeted leads per day coming across your table. By targeted I mean either a) interested in your product or b) interested in having a home business in direct sales/network marketing.
Say you make $100 for everyone that comes in either as a customer or distributor. Now imagine you get 30 leads per day. Only 5 get started. That’s $500 a day, $3,500 a week, and $14,000 a month.
Some people in ACN make more than that…! Some don’t make anything. The question is: what’s the difference that makes the difference? Why is there a huge gap when the opportunity is the same for everyone.
One of the main reasons is that the people making a lot simply know how to generate more leads every day. Seriously, think about it.
